McElroys was established in November 1992 by a small highly skilled group of lawyers. Their stated aims were to offer comprehensive and effective advice in litigation services to the insurance industry. To avoid conflicts of interest and to ensure the very best of service, McElroys would mainly act for insurers. Today they are proud to have an extensive client base in the insurance industry including local and overseas underwriters.
The Beginning
With the existing hardware and software infrastructure aging and becoming increasingly a liability, Peter McClintock, General Manager, began looking ahead to the role technology would play for McElroys in the future. He began to explore the need for a technology platform that would enable the firm to take advantage of the benefits and provide the opportunity to further differentiate themselves from competitors in the marketplace.
The Process
The Partners initially conducted a Business Needs Analysis to solidify the global vision that had begun to form. Kinetics Group Ltd were employed to relate the Business needs to the global vision and to put them into perspective for the practical application of technology. The consulting and strategic planning skills displayed by Kinetics assisted McElroys in the development of a full technology plan for the 2001/2002 year—from needs analysis, technology response through to budgeting. The resulting plan was broken down into a series of manageable projects which Kinetics then implemented in conjunction with Peter McClintock.
The Benefits
“Kinetics facilitated great communication and ongoing feedback, ensuring the responsibilities of each party were clearly understood. Kinetics provided regular re-evaluation as each project stage progressed to ensure the technology originally planned remained appropriate and current..” says Peter McClintock., “This level of support and communication has been ongoing.”
The Partners were able to successfully handle change management necessary as the new technology introduced enhanced information availability and represented an overall evolution of the company’s technology approach..
“Kinetics showed a commitment to meeting our Business Needs, and running projects in line with current technology and within budget constraints.”
