January 2011

Christmas has been and gone, and already it feels like a distant memory.  Kinetics had a complete office refit over the break, and while the final touches are still being applied, we’re enjoying the improvements immensely.    If you are in our neighbourhood, we’ll look forward to showing you what we’ve done!

So what does the year hold?  As always, we ‘ll be looking for ways to help you do more for less with your IT systems.  It doesn’t matter how good your IT systems are, unless you and your staff know how to use them effectively in your daily work, then you are missing the benefits.  We’ve invested significantly in being able to help our clients with this, and we’re recruiting more coaching staff even now.  With a mixture of business analyst and coaching skills, the focus is understanding what users need to do, and helping them to learn the best way.

In terms of technology trends, we’re increasing helping clients to adopt “cloud” solutions.  What we have found is that ‘cloud’ definitely offers opportunities, particularly as part of an overall solution – the trick being to understand how best to apply it to your business in the areas that make the most sense.  It’s an area we’ve developed real expertise over the last twelve months and we can help you to navigate the options to find what best suits your business.

The other big trend is the emergence of social media.  Facebook and Twitter have established themselves as valid communication channels.  At Kinetics we post news updates to our Facebook page and Twitter account (we’ve linked them) more frequently than our webpage and often more informally.  It reaches a different audience to other traditional media, and one that is growing in importance.  We’ve taken the view that we can’t afford to ignore it, and we suspect the same is true for most businesses.  If you aren’t using Facebook or Twitter, then we’d be delighted to help you – as we’ve done for a number of clients.
