Some time back, we posted a comment on our 'Handy Hints' page about the most useless key - scroll lock.
It's prompted a loyal reader to ask why the '@' key, one of the most useful keys, is still relatively inaccesible.
"We use the @ key a thousand times a day. Why do we have to press two keys to get it?
A geek will tell you – program one of the function keys to do it. My response – that’s fine, when I’m working only on my PC. Then I go to someone else’s and get a potentially nasty surprise when I press that same key and get an entirely different result because its been programmed to some other function
Come on keyboard designers – the blasted @ key should be the single most accessible key of all"
What do you think?
