Film and Video Labelling Body (FVLB)

The advantages of this were phenomenal
•20 hours a week time savings of manual data entry – a $25k per year saving in salaries
•Increased turnaround time on submissions to applicants resulting in a massive improvement to the customer experience. This increase in response time is of critical importance as more and more media is delivered through the likes of iTunes and Xbox movies.

FVLB's Challenge

All films supplied to the public must be submitted to the Film and Video Labelling Body (FVLB). The FVLB then rates unrestricted films and issues the labels that must be affixed to films before they can be supplied to the public.

Kinetics Group first started working with the FVLB 17 years ago, building the hardware and software platform they required for processing these submissions. Over the years this has served them well but as the amount of submissions has grown it became clear they needed to work smarter. Being a not-for-profit organisation, they had to make sure they were as efficient as they could be, simply throwing more staff at the problem was not an option.

Kinetics put a robust server platform in place and teamed up with Enlighten Designs to implement an online solution for film Submissions.

“When I started at the FVLB, submissions were received as hand written documents, be manually processed and would take 10 minutes to be entered into the database. With the new online system it is a few clicks of the mouse by an applicant and it goes straight into our database” says Sharon Rhodes of the FVLB.

The FVLB now enjoy a hybrid solution with critical business systems securely hosted on their own servers, while taking advantage of the flexibility that Office 365 delivers.

“Lync is fabulous, you don’t need to think did they get my email, it is instant. It is a much more effective way of communicating” says Sharon. She adds “With Office365 we can work offsite and don’t need to come back into the office, it is a better solution”

Being a not-for-profit organisation the FVLB had a defined budget to work within. Through the generosity of Microsoft’s Software Donations Program, they were able to leverage the latest Microsoft technologies to get the right solution for their business.
