Jenkin, as part of this commitment, decided to replace their entire network.

Jenkin were looking for a higher level of reliability in their network functionality. This would be achieved by upgrading Dynamics GP which required SQL 2008. The existing network was based on Windows Server 2000. The Terminal and SQL servers were struggling with the load. The hardware platform was up to 8 or 9 years old in some cases and would not support these upgrades. The hardware was out of warranty which was also a business risk.

Working with Kinetics Group, Jenkin identified the advantages in making their IT dynamic following the recommendations of Microsoft Core IO infrastructure model. Applying an holistic view Kinetics was able to design a solution that saved 50% in hardware costs compared to the cost of the existing network.

Kinetics implemented Server2008R2 for Jenkin with special permission from Microsoft as an early adopter, as the capabilities were impressive. A range of the Microsoft Virtualisation solutions were employed to consolidate servers and to deploy session Virtualisation.

Jenkin also upgraded to Office 2007 at this time and employed Kinetics computer coaching to empower the users to better achieve daily tasks harnessing the power of the new tools. The Home User Program available as a benefit of Software Assurance, is also in use.
